Forest School
Forest school is a child-centred, inspirational learning process, which offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions. It is a programme that encourages play, exploration and supported risk-taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner-inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting. Our forest school area is a secluded woodland area on our own school site. This bespoke area is set up all year round for our qualified practitioners to lead this unique and fun personal development experience. The process provides opportunities for more than knowledge-gathering; it helps learners develop socially, emotionally, spiritually, physically and intellectually.
All Year 1 children enjoy a block of forest school sessions during the year, supporting their personal development as they transition from the EYFS into more formal learning in Key Stage 1. Whilst in Year 3, children enjoy two further blocks of forest school sessions. This is intentionally timed to coincide with their progression into Key Stage 2.
